Reese Witherspoon's parents banned her from moving to Hollywood because it is "where crazy people live."

The Walk the Line star first started acting in Tennessee when she was 12 and quickly found herself getting cast in more and more parts, but her parents - who are both medical professionals - were wary of her pursuing it as a career while she was still a teenager. Speaking at a Young Women's Conference held at Brentwood School in Los Angeles this weekend, she said, "I started doing commercials when I was 12. One day there was an advert in the paper that said, 'Do you want to be in a movie?' I was like, 'Heck yeah I want to be in a movie!' I grew up in Nashville, they're not making a lot of movies there. My dad's a doctor and my mom is a professor of pediatric nursing. So I thought I was going to be a doctor. I was sure I was going to be. And then the universe just showed me this different possibility. Thank God my parents did this, but they told me I had to stay in school. I was allowed to work in the summers but I couldn't work in the school year. They said, 'You're not moving to California, that's where crazy people live.'"

Chelsea Handler Mocks Reese Witherspoon’s Drunken Arrest

Chelsea Handler mocked Reese Witherspoon's drunken arrest last night.

The chat show host took the opportunity to tease her good friend as she presented the Legally Blonde actress with an award at the ELLE Women In Hollywood 2013 ceremony, joking about her infamous disorderly conduct arrest video. The footage, which leaked online in April, saw Reese verbally insult a policeman who arrested her husband Jim Toth on suspicion of driving under the influence (DUI) in Atlanta, Georgia.

"'Personally, as a true friend, my favorite project of hers was an overlooked short film that she made earlier this year. She plays a very inebriated housewife defending her inebriated husband ... And if you haven't seen it, you can go on YouTube," Chelsea said.

Reese took the joke well and was seen doubled over laughing in her seat as good sport Jim chuckled next to her. There were clearly no hard feelings between the pair as Reese posed next to Chelsea for a photo opportunity at the swanky banquet held at the Four Seasons hotel in Beverly Hills.

Reese Witherpoon “Mortified” Over Arrest

Reese Witherspoon is "mortified" after her arrest for disorderly conduct.

The Mud actress was picked up by police officers in Atlanta last week while her husband Jim Toth was arrested on suspicion of DUI and friends of the 37-year-old mother-of-three say she can't believe she let things get so out of control. "She's a fun girl who likes to have a good time and let loose every now and then. What's shocking is she didn't rein it in enough to keep herself out of trouble. It was a really bad decision on both their parts and trust me, they're evaluating that and they will make damn sure it doesn't happen again," a source said.

Reese - who has seven-month-old son Tennessee with Jim - is also worried about how her kids Ava, 13 and Deacon, nine, from her previous marriage to Ryan Phillippe, will cope with the scandal. "She is happy to be home with her kids again. She didn't feel good about being away from them after the news of her arrest broke. Her kids are everything to her," the insider added.

The couple are due in court in Atlanta on their respective charges on May 22 and May 23.

Reese Witherspoon was arrested on Friday morning. The 37-year-old This Means War star was arrested for disorderly conduct after her husband Jim Toth, 42, was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence (DUI) in Atlanta, Georgia.

The Oscar-winning actress, who is currently in the city shooting her new movie The Good Lie, allegedly got into a war of words with a police officer during her husband's arrest, according to Variety.com. The actress was warned twice not to get out of the couple's Ford Focus, which was spotted driving in the wrong lane, and was arrested after she decided to get out to complain that the process was taking too long.

Reese Witherspoon Back Home with Baby

Reese Witherspoon is thrilled to have her new baby boy back home.

The Water for Elephants actress welcomed baby Tennessee James - her first child with talent agent husband Jim Toth - on September 27 but they only returned home from the hospital in recent days. "Everyone is bonding with the baby. And Jim has had a lighter workload and has been spending a lot of time at home with the baby as well. She definitely feels settled in her family life with Jim and her kids. They can't wait to start life with their baby," a source said.

Reese was spotted dining out with the newborn at Huckleberry Bakery and Cafe on Wednesday in Santa Monica, California. Her husband Jim - whom she married in March 2011 after a year of dating - was not nervous about becoming a dad for the first time. "He was just over the moon and really excited to become a dad," another source said.

Reese Witherspoon has given birth to a baby boy.

The 36-year-old actress - who has two children, Ava, 13, and Deacon, eight, from her marriage to Ryan Phillippe - and her husband Jim Toth welcomed Tennessee James into the world earlier today.

"Reese Witherspoon and husband Jim Toth welcomed Tennessee James into their family today. Both mom and baby are healthy and the entire family is thrilled," a representative for the couple said.

No other details have been released at the time of writing.

Last month, the Legally Blonde actress spent a couple of days in a Los Angeles medical facility after it was feared she was going into early labor. After being discharged, doctors told her to take it easy at home and get plenty of rest.

Reese Witherspoon is expecting a boy.

The Water for Elephants actress - who already has daughter Ava, 13, and son Deacon, nine, from her first marriage to Ryan Phillippe - is thought to be expecting a son with her second husband Jim Toth.

"They're both really happy to be having a son, but especially Jim as it's his first. He's over the moon about it," a source told Star.

Reese was rushed to hospital with pregnancy complications in August, but it was just a scare and mother and baby are doing fine, although Jim is still nervous. "Jim's still nervous after Reese's scare and hospital stay. But he just can't wait to hold his son in his arms," the source added.

Reese Witherspoon's pregnancy is going "great."

The 36-year-old actress - who has two children Ava, 12, and Deacon, eight, with former husband Ryan Phillippe - is expecting a baby with husband Jim Toth, but didn't let it stop her flying to the Cannes Film Festival in France to promote her new movie Mud with Matthew McConaughey.

"The flight over was actually pretty good. I feel great. I'm excited about showing the movie. The energy here is great!" she said.

Reese and Jim attended the afterparty of The Paperboy last night, and onlookers said the pair looked completely in love with Jim being protective towards his wife. "She and Jim were talking closely ... he was clearly protective of her whenever they were standing up or walking around, practically putting both arms around her.  She was wearing a simple outfit ... She looked like she was more about comfort than being glamorous. The baby bump is definitely taking shape now--Reese has a little waddle when she walks, which was cute!" a source told US Weekly.

The This Means War actress - who already has two children, Ava, 12, and Deacon, eight, from her first marriage to Ryan Phillippe - is expecting a baby with second husband Jim Toth after trying for some time.

"Reese and Jim have been trying to get pregnant. Reese is right around 12 weeks but is not planning to announce it," a source told US Weekly.

Reese, 35, married CAA agent Jim, 41, in March 2011 after dating for just over a year and friends say the pair are thrilled to be adding to their family and have started to break the news to their close friends. "The timing is right. She's so happy!" a source said.

When previously asked about the possibility of having more children, Reese said, "I would love that. I'm really happy. I feel really good and I'm at a really good place in my life."

Reese Witherspoon Feels Sexy

Reese Witherspoon feels "a lot sexier" than she ever has.

The 35-year-old actress - who married Hollywood agent Jim Toth last year - doesn't think she looks "so bad" these days and has learned to respect herself more as she has gotten older.

"I feel much better about myself, actually. When you get older you start to have respect for yourself and value certain things and choices you've made in your life that have given you strength. I'm much more comfortable with who I am and I'm even thinking that I don't look so bad. I feel a lot sexier these days than I ever have."

Despite feeling good about herself, Reese - who has children Ava, 12, and eight-year-old Deacon from her marriage to Ryan Phillippe - finds dating "nerve-wracking," but she is unsure why: "I find dating nerve-wracking, and, really, I don't know why. I pretty much went from being married and then I was married again, so I didn't really date much."
